The Springdale Library Media Center is the curriculum center of our school. A full range of materials, equipment and services are available to students and teachers. The Media Center is a large space that can accommodate seating for large and small groups. Special areas of the Media Center include an instructional area equipped with a Promethean board, the primary story area, and two Internet Access Technology Labs. The Media Center also offers a range of print, non- print and electronic media materials to the students and staff.
Every class at Springdale visits the Media Center once a week. Students may engage in a variety of activities and instruction including: selecting or exchanging books, storytelling including online read alouds, typing and computer instruction and instruction in information retrieval skills, activities that are integrated with classroom units, instruction in critical thinking and viewing media presentations.
Our Library Media Center is staffed with a full-time Media Specialist and a Technology Educational Assistant. Other sections of the Media Center house two ESL teachers, a Speech Therapist, a Resource teacher, an Occupational Therapist and a Physical Therapist. Tutors, parents and community volunteers also regularly use the Media Center.
